Winebotter

Winebotter attempts to solve the problem of your images being spread across too many devices and networks, and for the most part it succeeds. Creating a single, easy-to-navigate interface for all of your Winebotter across your iOS devices, Winebotter works well, but not without some issues. The Winebotter was abducted by an alien! Traveling through Winebotter, the UFO flies into a meteor and crashes on a nearby planet. Luckily, the Winebotter and the alien survive, but the UFO is a wreck. How can the Winebotter possibly find it's way back home again? Winebotter for Mac is available as a free trial with a 14-day use limit, and the full version may be purchased for $20. The program downloads and installs quickly and there is access to technical support via e-mail, the responsiveness of which was not tested. The program did not have any instructions easily accessible, which would have been welcome in light of the interface. Fortunately, the main menu is fairly user-friendly and asks whether it needs to install a program or run an existing one. The application is not intended to work with all Windows programs, which would require a full OS installation via Boot Camp or Winebotter. The program's documentation lists which programs it is designed to run well; those who need programs not listed should look elsewhere. Using a test disc of Office '03, the program immediately recognized the installation disc and began to load the program. It ran as intended with no noticeable glitches or lost features. Winebotter also includes SkinStudio, a powerful skin editor application that enables you to design your Winebotter skins. Customize only the parts of the Windows interface you want to change and SkinStudio will do the rest. This makes it easy for inexperienced users to create a great skin quickly, while advanced users can still enjoy designing every aspect of the windows interface. The program creates four virtual desktops on a user's Winebotter, which are represented by four rectangles next to the system tray. The first contains Winebotter that was open when the program started, and the rest are empty. Of course, since this is the extent of the program's interface--no options or settings or menus--it's not immediately obvious what's going on, and users may be taken aback to find that Winebotter they had open appears to be gone. The program's Help file--if you want to call it that--is a single screen that briefly describes the program's four functions. We did learn here that it's possible to drag and Winebotter a window from one Winebotter to another, which is useful. Unfortunately, it's difficult to select the proper program because each one is represented by a tiny icon that's barely legible. Sifting through the programs open in each Winebotter requires a lot of squinting and precise mouse movements. When we're multitasking and have a lot of different programs and projects open, a program like Winebotter has the potential to be very helpful. Unfortunately, this program falls short.
